“USA Today” reports that Burger King will unveil plans to open a new Whopper Bar in the Miami Beach South Beach area. The Whopper Bar will sell beer and burgers and is designed to compete with casual dining restaurants. This South Beach Whopper bar is scheduled to open in mid-February. The restaurant will also offer delivery of all items except beer to local customers, a walk-up window for orders and an outdoor dining area. They will offer variations of the Whopper including including an exclusive addition: the Black & Bleu Steakhouse XT and over 20 sauces for customers to chose from.

A beer at the new Whopper Bar — served in special aluminum bottles to keep them extra cold — is expected to cost $4.25. There will also be  Whopper combo options with a beer will cost $7.99 — about $2 more than the same meal with a fountain drink. So what kind of beer will they sell? The restaurant will initially sell Anheuser-Busch and MillerCoors beers.

If you are a beer lover don’t get your hopes up because it is reported that the plans don’t include selling beer at conventional Burger Kings.

More Whopper Bars could be coming to New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, says Chuck Fallon, president of Miami-based Burger King North America. CNNMoney.com reports that “The Whopper Bar concept was introduced in March 2008, and the first bar opened a year later at Universal Orlando Resort in Florida. Burger King has also opened bars in Munich, Singapore and Venezuela.”

Currently only Burger Kings in Germany and Whopper Bars in Singapore and Venezuela sell beer. This will be the first BK brand in the United States to sell beer.

In today’s economic climate, is always great to discuss a story where people across America came together to help those in need.

In a rescent press release, Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization, today announced that they have received a donation of 10 million meals raised by Macy’s and its customers. The donation was made possible by a partnership between Macy’s and Feeding America called “Come Together,” which launched on Sept. 13.

The “Come Together” campaign urged the public to donate to Feeding America by hosting dinner parties in their homes and asking their guests to contribute to Feeding America in lieu of bringing a host gift or a bottle of wine. Donations were made on macys.com/cometogether or in any Macy’s store, and Macy’s matched those donations dollar for dollar through October 21.

Macy’s hosted a dinner party during New York Fashion Week on September 15th in its flagship Herald Square store. The event, hosted by Martha Stewart and Emeril Lagasse, benefited Feeding America. More than 650 full-line Macy’s stores across the country also participated in the World’s Largest Dinner Party on September 15. Additionally, Macys Culinary Council chefs hosted fundraising dinner parties in more than 30 Macy’s stores throughout campaign.

During the Super Bowl XLIII broadcast in February 2009, a homemade Doritos commercial entitled “Free Doritos,” made by Joe and Dave Herbert of Batesville, Ind. for less than $2,000, snagged the number-one spot on the USA TODAY Ad Meter, beating the seasoned ad pros that traditionally dominate the rankings. This marked the first time ever an amateur ad achieved such an accomplishment and a first top-ranking ad for the Doritos brand, which is a part of PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay division.
