For the first time ever, the Food Network will have a rare special get-together of their top chefs with this year’s Thanksgiving holiday. Bobby Flay, Rachel Ray, Sunny Anderson, Alex Guarnaschelli, Melissa D’Arabian, and Alton Brown will all be in the kitchen cooking everybody’s favorite starter, main, and side dishes while answering your questions. The show will air on Sunday, November 20, 12 pm to 2pm EST. Hey, it’s still not too late for you to throw in your burning questions that these chefs will try to answer live via the Food Network Channel.

You could send your questions through:

Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/FoodNetwork
Twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/search?q=%23FNThanksgiving with the hash tag FNThanksgiving.
You could also post your questions at the Food Network blog with this link:Food Network Blog: http://blog.foodnetwork.com/fn-dish/2011/10/18/thanksgiving-live-questions/

If you like to send in your questions through live voice call, you could:

E-mail the Food Network producers who are currently looking for Skype viewers and callers who would like to be a part of their show. Send them your name, location, email, home telephone number, Skype name, and your Thanksgiving question and a Food Network producer might contact you for further information. If you get picked, you get to call in your question to the chefs and ask about perennial Thanksgiving problems you frequently encounter and the chefs might be able to help you in a jiffy. Send your e-mail at: thanksgivinglive@foodnetwork.com.

With this special Live! broadcast of the Food Network, fans and holidaymakers will get to enjoy the signature dishes that the chefs will cook and contribute as they work on their own kitchens. The attending chefs will then all celebrate together and get a taste of the dishes they’ve all shared to the dining table. Food guru Alton Brown is the lucky one who will have the honor of curving the turkey.

So if you have any persistent meal-making questions regarding Thanksgiving, hurry now and make sure you get to participate in this rare chance of having your problem solved quickly by star chefs through Food Networking Thanksgiving Live! And don’t forget to spread the word to your friends and loved ones about this once-in-a-lifetime chance of interacting with Rachel, Bobby, Sunny, Alex, Melissa, and Alton.

“We’re Super Chefs, okay?” Alex Guarnaschelli puts forth in the show’s promo. “A hamburger and fries is not going to cut it here, folks!”And thus marks the season four opener of The Next Iron Chef.This time around, ten Super Chefs have gathered in hopes of earning the coveted title and the opportunity to do battle from the Iron Chefs’ side of Kitchen Stadium on Food Network’s much-loved culinary program Iron Chef America.Among the worthy adversaries are judging panel alumni of Chopped, Worst Cooks in America and 24 Hour Restaurant Battle. All ten boast headlining positions at restaurants: Guarnaschelli is in charge of the French fare at NoHo’s multi-dimensional space Butter, Marcus Samuelsson is chef-owner at Red Rooster Harlem (where the brunch menu features “jerk bacon & egg” and “whiskey fudge”), Elizabeth Falkneris in charge of both the Michelin recommended Orson and the dessert/ice cream parlor Citizen Cake, and Phoenix’s Beau MacMillian acts as executive chef at upscale resort Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain (and came to a victorious end when he appeared as a challenger on Iron Chef America). And the accolades don’t end there.As a culinary artist with more than 25 years of experience, Geoffrey Zakariancurrently claims kitchen detail at two restaurants in New York City: The Lambs Club and The National. The former features an elegant take on casual modern American cuisine and cocktails. The latter infuses the best qualities of classic American dining and European cafes. Zakarian has made a name for himself as an in-demand kitchen connoisseur – no easy feat in New York City – and executed his designs at a number of internationally renowned restaurants before becoming something of a mainstay on Food Network programs like The Best Thing I Ever Ate, Food Feuds, 24 Hour Restaurant Battle, Chopped and Iron Chef America.Spike Mendelsohn is no stranger to the world of culinary television, either, having appeared on Iron Chef America and Food 2’s Kelsey & Spike Cook, on which he acts both host and challenger to Next Food Network Star’s former contestant Kelsey Nixon. In his spare time Mendelsohn maintains the D.C. mainstays Good Stuff Eatery and We the Pizza.

Institute of Culinary Education instructor Anne Burrell is among the contestants most familiar with Kitchen Stadium, having worked there as a sous chef for Mario Batali. Burrell’s experience dicing and slicing beside Batali in battle may give her an edge of over her Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs peers. That she hosts Food Network’s Secrets of a Restaurant Chef proves she has extra tricks up both sleeves.

49-year-old Michael Chiarello has been known to serve wood grilled chops of grass-fed lamb, Gulf prawns and 21-day dry aged prime rib-eye at his micro-regional Italian eatery Bottega in Napa Valley. The super chef is also the host of Food Network series Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello.

Chuck Hughes is another very familiar face from the upcoming season; this Canadian super chef is both co-owner of Montreal’s Garde-Manger and host of Cooking Channel program Chuck’s Day Off. Hughes proved his worth last year when he got the best of Iron Chef Bobby Flay, which fans know the challenger doesn’t win often in the tough arena.

Perhaps the best known of the contestants is behind the same face which appears at the center of the new season’s main press photo: Robert Irvine. The star of both Restaurant: Impossible and Dinner: Impossible owns Hilton Head Island restaurant Robert Irvine Eat!, and – as if that weren’t enough – his experiences under the high pressure of televised competition also include a stint on Worst Cooks in America.

The exciting series premiere of The Next Iron Chef Super Chef is set to take place October 30th at 9pm on the Food Network, when the floodgates of culinary talents will open and the cutthroat competition will officially begin.

Let the battle begin!

Jeff Mauro the Sandwich King won the competition. I really wanted Susie to win but my husband was rooting for the sandwich king. Can an entire show about sanwiches be interesting? They are even trying to hype this show as the next Guy Fieri? No way, I don’t think that is possible but we will have to wait and see. The new show debuts today Sunday at 10:30 a.m. I was shocked that it got a prime time spot. I know my husband is planning to watch it – how about you?

We just finished watching the Next Food Network Star on the Food Network and it was a great finish. It came down to that last three competitors Jeff, Susie and Vic. At the beginning for the show Giada told them that only two contestants would be making pilots based on how they did on the final camera challenge. After deliberations the committee announced that the final two stars were Susie and Jeff. Giada then announced to the contestants that a special guest would be directing them. As they arrive the next day at the food network studios their director is Guy Fieri. We love all of Guy’s shows and were so excited to see him guide the next food network stars. Each contestant made their pilot episode then all the old contestants were brought back to be a focus group. In the end, Jeff won and you can catch Sandwich King on Sundays at 11:30 a.m. I hope Susie gets her own show because I really loved her recipes – I guess we will have to wait and see.

The Quick fire challenge was to take make something with potato as the featured ingredient. The winner was Jennifer Carol. She is definitely the most talented of the female chefs.

For the elimination challenge, the remaining contestants try to serve the 300 pilots and crew from the USAF Air Demonstration Squadron based at Nellis Air Force Base with the same Pride, Precision and Professionalism on deck that the Thunderbirds show in the air. They were all to work as a team, but were not given an idea of what ingredients or cooking conditions they would have until they arrived at the base. Back at the house, the chefs chose Jennifer to lead the team since she had immunity, while the rest split up in groups of two to cook separate dishes. Once they arrived in the kitchen, they saw canned items and vegetables, but no stoves and no individual pans, just over sized woks and kettles. The guest judge was Colonel Mark Peel.

Greek salad, pasta salad, three bean chili with roasted chicken, braised pork shoulder with potato salad, roasted beef strip loin and chocolate bread pudding with peanut butter sauce were some of the dishes served.

Michael Voltaggio won the challenge. Michael Isabella was brought down a notch by being in the bottom three for his bland shrimp salad, and did not take the criticism well from the judges. In the end, Preeti was eliminated, as the judges were unimpressed by the pasta salad she and her partner Laurine prepared.

Top Chef Battles of the Sexes…teams were divided men against woman, and asked to prepare appetizers that matched “shots” for a bachelor/bachelorette party. The competition was close, but the men’s team pulled out the win. Todd English was the guest judge. Eve Aronoff, who was also in the bottom three chefs last week was eliminated.

If you visit Bravo’s website, you’ll notice they are involving former Top Chef Contestants this season. Fabio Viviani shows you how to make Bryan Voltaggio’s winning recipe. Brian Marlarkey provides a healthy alternative to this week’s winning dish. Plus, a recipe and blog.

Last night was the season premier of Top Chef Season 6, Las Vegas on BravoTV. Seventeen new “cheftestants” compete to win the title of Top Chef and $100,000.

One thing that stood out immediately, is that there seemed to be much more experienced chefs among these contestants than in previous seasons. Also never featured a family rivalry…two talented brothers Bryan and Michael Voltaggio will battle for the title.

The quick fire challenge placed contestants in groups for a relay race that involved shucking 16 clams, peeling 30 prawns, cleaning 5 lobsters and butchering two chop for prime rib.

For the elimination challenge, contestants have to choose a personal vice and cook to express their bad habits through food. Of course many had similar vices of alcohol or smoking. Wolfgang Puck appeared as a guest judge. The winner was Kevin Gillspie for his Arctic Char with Salsa Verde of Turnips. I personally thought that Michael Voltaggio’s vice of voluptuous women, was brought out creatively through his “rack” of lamb and coconut sauce, as well as the alcohol vice brought out in Jennifer Carroll’s dish, poached halibut with whiskey, bouron and scotch sauce.

If you love to cook, this is the show for you, as I have to say out of all the shows, this is where I have learned the most.

So, any first impressions on who will make it to the finale?

Join the community cookout as Chef Emeril presents his best grilling tips and techniques, and explores the resources required to bring food from the field to the table. Chef Emeril takes viewers on an in-depth tour of the farm and showcases:

using community supported agriculture to create mouth-watering summer treats;

how to grill fresh ingredients without losing important nutrients and flavor;

utilizing garden herbs for savory drinks.

EMERIL GREEN CALIFORNIA SPECIAL AND ORIGINAL EPISODES
Premieres Monday, November 30 at 8:00 p.m. ET

Emeril Green California Specials (wt) will take viewers to one of the country’s most progressive and dedicated organic and sustainable farming areas – Sonoma and Napa Valleys. At the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley, see a school leading the way with its commitment to local ingredients and sustainable farming practices. New students arrive each semester to study the art of food preparation, and wine education; with the land so rich in ingredients, they quickly come to realize the importance of knowing where their food has been grown. While the school may provide the canvas for these culinary artists in training, the local farms and food purveyors supply the materials. Follow a few students and teachers as they mix it up with Chef Emeril to create a local, seasonal menu from ingredients all from within a 150 miles radius. Beginning in October, Chef Emeril’s tour of wine country will include:

visiting a farm that uses solar power and biodiesel fuels for all its energy needs;

learning more about sustainable fishing and water conservation practices;

exploring the in’s and out’s of organic farms.

EMERIL GREEN VERMONT SPECIAL AND ORIGINAL EPISODES

There’s something very exciting happening in the small town of Hardwick, VT. It’s a town of environmentally conscious young agricultural entrepreneurs who are trying to create a sustainable farming community. This eclectic group of ecopreneurs is working toward a common goal to adopt a unique, innovative approach to supporting sustainable agriculture and is doing so by using only entirely local resources. Join Chef Emeril as he explores the town and learns more about the people that inhabit this bucolic place in an original special premiering in 2010. Travel with Chef Emeril as he visits the following locales:

a business dedicated to providing organic growers with certified organic seed;

a 205 year-old family farm that makes freshly pressed cider;

an award winning environmentally conscious brewery.

Emeril Green (airing Mondays at 8:00 p.m. E/P), hosted by Chef Emeril Lagasse, helps real people solve cooking problems by utilizing fresh and organic sources of food to promote a healthier lifestyle. Many of the meals prepared on the show support sustainable fare by choosing ingredients from local sources and fair trade options. Shot mainly on location at Whole Foods Market(R), Chef Emeril works with everyday cooks who have real culinary challenges.
