About Taste For Cooking
Taste For Cooking is a family food blog run by Sue and Tina – though truth be told, the whole family pitches in, whether that means testing a recipe, arguing about how much garlic is enough (there is never enough), or volunteering as taste testers.
Our Story
We have been cooking for more than twenty years, and this site has been our recipe box since the beginning – it is over fifteen years old, which makes it practically an antique in food blog years. Two threads run through everything we cook.
The first is family. Many of our most loved recipes are Cuban dishes passed down through our family – fufu de platano, lentejas, enchilado de camarones – the food we grew up eating and still make the way it was taught to us.
The second is the sea. We come from a travel industry background and have sailed with many of the major cruise lines over the years. Anyone who has cruised knows the feeling: you come home and find yourself dreaming about that chocolate lava cake or that soup from the main dining room. So we made it our mission to track down and recreate cruise ship recipes at home – and that collection has become what Taste For Cooking is best known for.
Along the way, we picked up a habit that changed how we cook: taking cooking classes wherever we travel – in the countries we visit and right onboard the ships we sail. Some of the best techniques on this site came home with us from a class somewhere, and when a chef’s trick makes it into one of our recipes, we tell you about it.
What You Will Find Here
Cruise line recipe recreations from Carnival, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Holland America, Celebrity, Disney and more; Cuban and Latin family recipes; and easy, crowd-pleasing dishes for entertaining – the kind of food that disappears first at a party.
